We drove up to the house today to see the end product after the bricks having been cleaned. There are some chips here and there and some mortar missing, but overall we think the brick cleaner did a pretty good job, considering our bricks are reknowned for chipping easily.

My only concern is whether the brown underside colour of the Urban One Silver bricks around the window stills will be coloured to match the silver. I'm not sure whether they normally do this or not with those particular bricks. If anyone knows what happens, please let me know.

My other half has fallen in love with the brown bricks that are going to be covered by bag and paint finish which is frustrating. I remember having arguments with him when we were trying to select our brick colour. He told me he hated chocolate coloured bricks. I on the other hand loved the colour and would have given anything to have them. We ended up choosing the silver because it was the only colour we could agreed on...ggggrrrr

The eaves that have been put up so far also look good too.

And boy what is muddy! The ground was like quick sand. Hopefully there will be no more rain this week to allow to ground to dry up.

Was surprised to hear the bricks had been cleaned today. We will pay a visit tomorrow and see what they look like. Can't wait to see the finished product. The brickie didn't end up finishing the patio column because of the rain. I'd say that will be finished Monday now.

28th June 2013

Today we met our brickies who have done such an awesome job. They are such neat, clean bricklayers. We had a good old yarn with them for about an hour, which was cool. All that's left to do are a few bricks on the second column on the front patio. They mentioned today that they would have finished on Monday (4 days ago), but the rain had held them up significantly. According to Marty (bricklayer) the bricks will be finished tomorrow.

The eaves were delivered on Wednesday and started being put up yesterday. The timber also got delivered Wednesday, but I'm not too sure as to when that will go up. I'm assuming that will happen as soon as the bricks are finished.

So at this stage, it looks like electrical will go ahead as planned next week, which is so exciting.

I have spent the last week online going bonkers over ideas for the inside furnishings and its doing my head in. I cant decide what colour furniture to go with. I was hoping to buy some furniture before the EOFY to save some coin, but its so hard not knowing what it will look like inside.

Damn rain!!! I recieved a call from Peter our SS on Monday to let me know that the brickies couldn't finish the brickwork on Saturday as they had run out of bricks and that 2 x more pallets would be delivered on Monday. Problem is that it has been raining since Monday and they still haven't arrived. He did say that it was weather permitting though. I am pretty sure the next two days will bring some sunshine, so hopefully the brickwork will get finished. Peter said they only have less than 1 day of brickwork to be done.

On a good note, the eaves got delivered today and apparently are supposed to be put up tomorrow. The timber for the front facade was also delivered. Peter also mentioned that if the brickwork gets finished that the bricks would be cleaned on Friday. I can't see it happening though as I can't imagine 1 day after the final bricks being laid they would be dry enough for a clean. I would say this will get pushed back to Saturday or next week.

Electrical has been booked in for next Monday, home theatre and security next Tuesday and apparently gyprock to start next Friday, but again all this will be weather permitting.

Day 5 since the brickwork started and they are almost done. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole house was finished tomorrow. It looks great and the there is hardly any spill on the brickwork. Looking forward to going to visit again tomorrow afternoon. We are going to meet our parents at the house so they can see how far it has come along since the slab and then head down to the Golf Club for dinner.

Day 4 of the brickwork being done and it looks great so far. The alfresco area has been done and they have laying bricks up the right side of the house to just past the master bedroom. They should probably finish the whole side tomorrow and perhaps even start on the garage.

Day 3 of the brickwork having started and the whole right side of the house has been done and the front right hand corner. Its looking really good. Pete got to see the brickwork for the first time today and he is really happy. If they keep going at this rate, the bricks should definitely be finished by mid next week.

Its only Day 2 of the bricks having started and I cant believe how quickly its coming along. So far we are really impressed with the brickwork. A different colour brick at the front is being used as this section of the house will be bag and paint finish. Good job Marty the Bricklayer!
