30th August 2013

Today we noticed that the gyprockers had been in to patch a few areas and the cornice in the master bedroom had been replaced. The painters will be repainting areas that were missed tomorrow and Saturday. The shower screen hadn't been replaced as yet. There are also some door jams that need to be installed. Apart from that it is almost complete.

Yesterday was a stressful one as we weren't given a great deal of time to organise final progress payment and arrange a bank inspection. I was freaking out thinking it was going to be at least another week or so before we would be able to get our keys, but we recieved a phone call today from MJH informing us that handover was still scheduled for next Tuesday, which was just the news we wanted to hear.

Not looking forward to tomorrow though as we are going to start packing and packing is never fun. Luckily there isn't a huge amount to do as most of stuff is already in storage.

We are so excited. Can't believe we will be in our new home in 4 days time!

28th August 2013

Starting to feel really anxious.

Just sent through our request to Rams for final progress payment, have requested a valuation inspection with Rams and have organised home + contents insurance. Hopefully Rams will be quick with organising their inspection so we can still get our keys next Tuesday.

27th August 2013

PCI was today and it went really well. Most things were picked up last week when MJH did their inspection. Peter our SS was fantastic. Everything we wanted fixed, he said no worries too. It took approximately 2.5 hours, but there was a bit of chit chat too.

The things that needing fixing/replacing are:

1. Change light switches to match electrical plan (3 x switches were wrong)
2. Fit gripper catches and cut holes in desk
3. Paint touch ups
4. Change ensuite shower screen door (as there were scratches on it)
5. Final clean to be done and brick clean

Everything else was already fixed, so we walked away with big smiles on our faces. Everything will be fixed or replaced over the next 6 days. The only thing that may turn up a little later is the shower screen door, which is no drama.

Peter asked us when we wanted the appliances and hot water system delivered and installed. We agreed on delivery for next Tuesday, which is the day we get our keys and they will be installed the following day.

One thing I asked about which we found disappointing was that MJH don't bring in a bobcat to take off the top layer of soil, the rocks they put in the driveway and the excess sand, because tradies have left rubbish, cigarette packets, cigarette butts, drink bottles, broken bricks, food packets etc. There is a lot of crap embedded in the soil from the rain. It would have been nice for them to get rid of the mess the tradies left seeing as we pay so much money. We are going to have to bring in extra fill, but we are going to have to remove the excess rubbush which is annoying before we put the fill on top.

The splashback was finally installed. It had been done yesterday. I don't like the colour. Its a little more grey than I thought it would be. It will probably look better once all the appliances are in and eventually we will be changing the pantry doors to the nice stained ones. We wanted to leave the doors till after handover as MDJ charge a lot for the stained doors.

Next Tuesday when we get our keys we are going to spend the day painting the skirting boards in preparation for the flooring going down. We have organised for our floorboards to be installed next Wednesday, the skirting boards Thursday and the carpet Friday, so will move in next weekend.

After PCI today, we went shopping. We ended up buying a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, dryer and 100" fixed screen and projector for the media room. It seems neverending. There is so much stuff to buy. We just need to win lotto now to pay for it all...lol

The reality of moving into our new home is finally kicking in. We are so excited and can't believe we get our keys in 7 days. OMG!!!

25th August 2013

We decided to pop in for a visit today seeing as we were in the area and were surprised to find the painters there. They were touching up all the areas that had blue stickers on them from the inspection. I'd say they will be there again tomorrow as there are quite a few touch ups to be made.

Still no splashback! Takes forever in Sydney. Apparently it takes about 2 weeks. Hopefully it will be in tomorrow so we can see it on Tuesday when we do PCI.

I managed to get some photos of the dining table we bought along with chairs and material for chairs. The dining setting was bought from Custom Designs Furniture who are located at the Moore Park Supa Centre. Their website is http://www.customdesignsfurniture.com.au. Speak to Anthony and tell him you got his details from Renai's Blog. He was an absolute pleasure to deal.

8 Seater (2400 x 1050) in Coffee Bean Stain

We decided on the medium size chair (pictured below) as we thought it would look more modern, which will be in 'Warwick - Cocktail Mushroom' fabric (also pictured below) with coffee bean stained legs to match the table.

23rd August 2013

We didn't go up to the house today. We figure seeing as we have PCI on Tuesday and because we can no longer get inside the house, we may as well wait until Tuesday. Hopefully the splashback was installed today. I was hoping our SS would have called today, but he didn't especially with PCI 'supposedly' being Tuesday. A time hasn't been set or anything.

Yesterday we put a deposit down on a 2400 x 1050 8 seater dining setting. We had the designer help us choose the fabric. Ideally I would have gone lighter but when you have 3 kids you really need to be practical. The stain is called coffee bean. Its a really nice rich chocolate colour. I can't believe I didn't take any photos. I was so caught up in the moment and so worried about the cost of the whole thing that I forgot. It ended up costing $4,000, which is about $2,000 more than we wanted to spend. We actually saved about $1,000. I will see if the store owner can take a photo for me tomorrow. Unfortunately there is an 8 week turnaround time, because they are so busy, but I can live with that.

We gave the go ahead to Shade Elegance today for Basswood Shutters throughout - 13 in total, with 10 windows and 2 cutouts to be done. We bit the bullet with the shutters because the price was so good. We managed to get the price down to $5,750, which was fantastic, considering some of the quotes I had were over $9,000. We were almost going to get aluminium slimline venetians, but out of about 8 companies that I got quotes from, only one of them had a dark chocolate colour. I still can't believe that hardly any blind companies don't have dark chocolate. Especially considering that most display homes now have dark chocolate blinds. Very odd. Turnaround time for the blinds is 6-8 weeks.

There is still so much to buy like entertainment units, coffee tables, bar stools, new linen, bedside tables, accessories etc. We need to win lotto!

I got in touch with our CLO today about final payment. She has requested final payment details which should come through soon. Council also did an inspection on Monday for our Occupation Certificate.

Really looking forward to Tuesday.

Only 10 days to go!

22nd August 2013

MJH finally did their inspection today. We were surprised to see lots of blue and green tape. There were things that we didnt pick up on that had tape on them, yet some of the things that we think need fixing went un-noticed, but thats ok as we can go through our issues on Tuesday.

It looks as though some marks have already been fixed up as some more plastering had been done.

We can't wait till Tuesday. Can't believe there are only 12 days to go.

20th August 2013

Our security fence was pulled down today. Its surprising how much bigger the house looks without a big ugly fence in front of it. MJH were supposed to have gone through the house today for their inspection, but I couldn't see any blue tape anywhere. Either there is nothing they feel that needs fixing or they didn't end up doing it. I believe the windows were supposed to be serviced today, but I have no idea as to whether that happened or not.

There is still no sign of the kitchen splashback or appliances. I am assuming they will be installed this week prior to our walk through. There is also no sign of the hot water system either.

Hopefully tomorrow we will see some progress. It feels like nothing has happened for a while.

Starting to feel a little anxious now. Knowing that we will have the keys in 2 weeks is scary and so exciting at the same time.

Today I ordered our lights so they will be ready for pick up the week we move in. Still going insane trying to find a dining setting that we like. I think we are going to have to get one custom made. I also have no idea what bar stools to get. So frustrating! All I seem to be doing lately is spending countless hours surfing the net for ideas and for things to buy.

15th August 2013

Today the cleaners were in removing all film from windows, doors etc. The floor has also had most of the dust and debris removed. If the cleaners have finished cleaning up, then they did a pretty crap job. There was still dust everywhere, smear marks on all windows, debris in the window frames, excess paint marks and smear marks on the tiles. I hope they are back tomorrow to finish the job properly.

The hot water system still needs to be installed, along with kitchen splashback, kitchen appliances, kitchen rangehood, trimming on the underside of the front facade and door latches.

We recieved a call from Peter our SS yesterday to give us an update. Apparently the rest of the silicon/grouting will be done tomorrow, next Monday the windows get serviced and Tuesday the big boss will be doing his inspection with our SS. We hope they pick up on everything that we think needs fixing. I am not too sure as to whether any work happens between Tuesday and our PCI, which is scheduled for 27th August. Everything that needs fixing will probably done between 27th August and 2nd September, as we recieved the keys on 3rd September. Can't believe we will be moving into our new house in just under 3 weeks.

13th August 2013

Today all shower screens and mirrors were installed today, along with study nook data points.

The shower screens look good, although not what I expected. They were a matt stainless steel, not polished. I was certain they were supposed to be polished stainless steel. They were also supposed to have stainless steel handles, but they look like a grey plastic. They still look ok though as they match the tiled area edges. We will still raise this with the SS.

The mirrors however we are really disappointed with. For some reason the mirrors arent flush with the benchtops. They look like they have been made to be flush with the vanities. It looks silly as the mirrors sit within about an inch of the benchtop edges. The ensuite doesnt look too bad. Its the main bathroom that we don't like. Stegbar have installed the mirror without centreing it on the wall, so on one side there is about a 10cm gap and on the other side there is a 2cm gap. It looks ridiculous. If the installer had installed it more to the left and flush with the benchtop, it probably wouldn't have looked so bad. I also hate how the mirror in the master ensuite hasnt covered the top grout line. I was really hoping it would have been slightly taller. We will definitely be raising this with our SS as its really noticeable. I hate it when things are off centre. It was bad enough having the toilet window off centre, now this. I was just having a look at the display home photos and the mirror is the same. So I am assuming nothing will be done about it. Not happy today :(

We did get a text message from MJH today informing us that our house was nearing completion and that we would expect a phone call to arrange an inspection. Fingers crossed its before 27th Aug.

We think all that is left to do in the house is the finishing off of the silicon and grouting in the wet areas, the kitchen splashback, door stoppers and installation of the hot water system.

11th August 2013

Yesterday all door handles, towel rails and toilet roll holders were installed.

Next week we should hopefully see shower screens, appliances, kitchen splashback, wet area grouting/siliconing finished and a clean up. Our Site Supervisor's boss is supposed to be doing an inspection the following Monday the 19th. At this stage it still looks like we will be doing PCI on 27th August. I hope its earlier. We can't wait to move in.

7th August 2013

A lot happened today...

We were surprised today to find all sinks had been put in, the bath, all tapware, both shower rails and both toilets. I am assuming towel rails and toilet roll holders will be put in tomorrow as they had been delivered.

All built in wardobes and walk in wardrobe had shelving and rails, along with the linen closet, laundry broom closet and kitchen pantry.

Plumbing had been done as all taps were working.

The gas bayonet was installed.

Data points were also installed.

Oh and they also have done a bit of a site clean up out the front.
