6th September 2013

Today our bed, activity room sofa, fridge, dishwasher, dryer and microwave was delivered. Loving everything I have ordered so far. The fridge was a hit with the boys with the LED lights and ice maker.

The carpet was also installed today, however it didn't get finished. The installer will be back tomorrow to finish off the master bedroom.

The shower screen will be replaced tomorrow.

We used the kitchen taps for the first time today only to find that water started gushing out everywhere under the sink. The idiots who installed it had put the white u-bend pipe directly over the grey pipe that leads into the ground. There is no thread on the pipe to seal it, so any water that comes through just gushes out everywhere. Our SS will pop out in the morning to check it out. We also noticed a pool of water forming at the front right hand corner of the house. We have no idea where this is coming from.

We are noticing more and more little things that were missed as each day passes by. Its mainly the paintwork. The painting would have to be the worst thing overall. After having the skirting boards installed yesterday, there is now painting missing above the skirting boards because the painters didn't paint far enough down the wall. There is also still some paint missing on some walls. Apart from the painting everything else is pretty good.

Tomorrow is the big move into our new home. We can't wait. Not look forward to having to move it all in and unpack though.

  5. I can imagine!! Thinking I will need to take more than a few days off work to get it all sorted when the time comes. Definitely! We're Lot 1611 down the first release, hoping to be in by Christmas but not getting excited just yet, things have been moving along nicely though. My husband is a cabinetmaker in case you need one down the track :) he's really busy at the moment doing our kitchen, vanities and robes for the new house on top of normal work! Good luck with all the finishing touches :)

  6. Hi we are thinking of building this house and was wondering if you have had any trouble getting the pipes fixed and did you find out what the pool of water was? thank you for sharing your experience. I cant wait to start my blog about our knock down rebuild

  7. Hi Ally, we had our SS to get in contact with the plumbers. They came out on Monday morning to inspect the pipe, which they said had a leak. They have fixed it and have asked us to keep an eye on it and if it happens to leak again, they will come back out again. We love the Milano 4 layout. I love that the kids have their own area with all their bedrooms off the activity room and their own bathroom. MJH have been an absolute pleasure to build with. We would definitely build with them again. All the best with your KDR. I look forward to seeing your progress. Cheers, Renai

  9. Hi Renai, your house looks amazing you've done well. I've been following your progress for a while now and have loved what you are willing to share. I haven't started a blog as such but am doing a personal diary of our experience. We're building the Chesterfield Executive Elite and are up to the electrical rough-in. We're hoping to be in by xmas if all goes well, and your build time (even tho different size home) has helped me think it's not out of reach. Once again thank you for sharing your journey I wish you all the best and good luck with the rest of your endeavours.
