13th January 2013

Today Pete and I took to the streets for a bit of retail therapy and decided to check out some lighting warehouses in Auburn. After having done a lot of research online and visiting other lighting shops over the previous weeks, we decided to go ahead and order our lights. We worked out that buying our own lights and installing them after hand over was going to be the cheapest for us. We bought ours from Lighting Town in Auburn. We dealt with Maria who I think may have been the owner who was so lovely. Because I had bought from her in the past, she gave us some really good prices.

We bought 73 x downlights, 4 x kitchen bench pendants, 1 x dining room pendant, 3 x ceiling spotlight/pendants for the boys rooms, 9 x exterior up/down lights, 1 x exterior sensor light and 2 x bathroom heater/light/exhaust fans. We splurged slightly on the dining room pendant as Pete fell in love with it and had to have it. When we asked how much it was the first time, we were told $1,000 and nearly died. After about half an hour, we asked Maria again if she could do any better as we both loved the light, so she said she would do it for $850, which we then decided to go ahead with. The damage ended up being just over $3,000, which we thought was great, considering it would have cost over $6,000 just for downlights if we had decided to use MJH to supply and install them. All we need now is to find a decent cheap Electrician to install them after handover. If anyone knows of any, please message me.
