We experienced our first delays over this past week :(
Thanks to the rain, the site level couldn't be done last Wednesday, which mean't the frame couldn't be delivered on Friday. We were then informed on the weekend that the site would be leveled Monday (yesterday) and that the frame would be delivered on Wednesday, so I drove up to the block for a sticky beak and what did I find...still nothing :(
Our lovely neighbour surprised me today with a text message saying there was a bobcat on site and that the termite barrier had been put down. I was so relieved. So fingers crossed the frame still gets delivered tomorrow as planned.

Today our slab was laid and it looks fantastic. It now gives us a sense of the size of the house and how much yard space we are going to have. Can't wait till the frame starts going up.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting up with James our Site Supervisor at 1pm for our first major inspection, being the piering. James walked me around the site showing me where the piers were on the plans and where they had been cut on the site and whilst this was happening, one of the construction workers was measuring the depth of the piers. The framework for the slab had also been laid and waffle pods had been delivered.
Total lineal meterage of the piers came to 29.1, which we are absolutely thrilled about as our contract allowance was 89 lineal metres. This means we are 59.9 metres under our allowance, which means a nice credit will be coming our way. James informed me that all holes would be filled today and that the sand would be put down for the salinity. He also told me that our slab would be laid this Saturday and frames would be delivered next Friday, which is so exciting.
I ended up going back to the block about 3:30pm to find that all holes had been filled and the sand had been put down just as James specified. Hopefully the sun will stay out for the next few days so there are no issues with the slab going down.

Plumbing was done today. I must have looked like a fool to those passing by today taking photos of almost every single pipe and talking to myself. I was trying to containment my excitement and not scream out loud with joy. I walked up to the first pipe and said "OMG that is where the garage crate is going", then walk up to the next one and say "OMG that is where the water tank will be"...lol

2nd May 2013
We recieved our first text message from MJH 2 days ago to say that all orders had been placed and that our file had been sent to the Supervisor to arrange for the site to be cut. And today, much to my surprise, recieved a message from our lovely neighbour Sarah to say our site had been cut today. I couldnt wipe the smile off my face. We cant wait to drive up to our block on the weekend to see the progress.
